The Echo Show 8 (2nd gen) is the next model up from the Echo Show 5. It features a bigger 8″ touchscreen with a higher resolution (1280 x 800 pixels), as well as a more powerful 13 megapixel camera. On the audio front, there are four microphones and two 2.0″ speakers, which make video calls an even better experience.
Like all Echo smart devices, the Echo Show 8 has Alexa built-in so you can find answers to questions, listen to the news and weather and set reminders just by using your voice. You can even ask Alexa to control other smart devices and play TV shows and films on Prime Video and Netflix.
Alexa Privacy Protection
If you’re concerned about your privacy, you’ll be glad to know there are multiple layers of privacy protection built into each Echo device. First, a wake word is used to activate Alexa. So, unless Alexa detects that word, it won’t be recording your conversations. Second, all Echo devices have a Microphone Off or Mic/Camera Off button that disconnects the microphone and camera electronically. For added peace of mind all Echo Show devices have a sliding camera cover. How is the Echo Show 8 powered?
The Echo Show 8 comes with a power adaptor that plugs into a mains socket. An optional battery base is is available that provides up to 4 hours of power.
Does Alexa record my conversations?
Alexa only records audio when you wake it up using the wake word. Audio is recorded to improve the accuracy of the service offered by Alexa. You can ask Alexa to delete your voice history or you can view/delete all audio recordings using the app.
